Rhonda is a Southern California native who was born into a family of musicians. At the age of four she was lined up with her sisters performing four part harmonies conducted by her parents for aunts, uncles and family friends. Since Bluegrass, Country and Blues was the format while growing up, it was fitting that her first instrument was the violin. Of course around the house you had to refer to it as a fiddle. It was a constant battle to tear away from the sounds of twang and escape into what was to be the true path for this hard core rocker at heart. By the age of 9 the fiddle faded and the Fender was found. The sounds of Zeppelin, Aerosmith and Heart invaded every fiber of this being. By the early eighties a few new idols exploded into the scene including Joan Jett, Pat Benetar and Chrissy Hines. The realization that a female artist could cut the edge like that was the force that soared through and back out of this raspy gutteral voice. Dont take her tough girl, "Ill kick your ass" attitude she shows on stage personally, thats just aggression coming out from being the only female at home surrounded by two teenage sons and her husband Gyro, the drummer of Southern Crush. If you listen closely to the words in her original songs, youll get where she is coming from. When
Rhonda isnt letting out her aggressions on stage, she is running
her brokerage company and acting as the V.P. of national sales for
a food manufacturer."
